sharing-a-mealAbout 60 Webster City area senior citizens gathered for the annual Thanksgiving dinner held at Fuller Hall Wednesday noon, sponsored by Crestview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Webster City.

“This is something we’ve done every year for 31 years,” said Larry Flaws, Fuller Hall. “We’re glad to provide a place for the seniors to come.”

This year, the turkey, table service and drinks were provided and those attending were asked to bring a dish to share. This year, in addition to sponsoring the event, seven staff members from Crestview Nursing were on hand to help serve and make sure all in attendance had enough to eat and drink.

“It’s usually Mark Glascock, Kent Harfst and I, so the extra help is a huge benefit this year,” Flaws said.

Kelsey Klaver, marketing director for Crestview, said

“This is our first time helping with the Thanksgiving dinner. We sponsored the Christmas coffee last year,” she said. Crestview stepped into sponsor the Christmas coffee when city budget cuts threatened to cancel the annual party.

“I was really glad that Kent (Harfst) asked us to be a part of this event,” she said. “We’ve got a nice big crowd this year.”

The Rev. Jay Amundson of Asbury United Methodist Church gave the opening prayer before the meal and shared a Thanksgiving poem. Following the dinner, the group was invited to play Bingo.
